Summer Scrap Swap: Getting Dressed

Here at PR, we love breathing new life into scraps - and as we head into Back to school season, it seemed the appropriate time to once again hold a PR scrap swap.  We will spend all of August inspiring you to sew for school (both Uniform and Free Style), so clear out some space and sew up some scraps!!!

In our scrap swap, we trade off scrap packs and have to make a project using at least 3 scraps from our pack - I love how this pushes me to think outside my box and go beyond my normal fabric pairings.  When I opened my package from Rachel, I was giddy over all the cute prints, and my daughter immediately started claiming them for herself.

I chose to play with a free racerback pattern from Crafter Hours.  None of my scraps would fit the full bodice pieces, so I shortened the pattern to tunic length and played with color blocking to get the size pieces I needed.  This is not a combination I ever would have naturally chosen - and I am in LOVE.  Better yet, this bright and fun tunic is just perfect for my feisty girl.

Paige also had fun with a knit dress combination:

Here’s a picture of the knit fabric I received from Erica Marsh.

I knew right away that I was using the Birch fabric with the adorable foxes. Next, I needed to decide what to make with the fabric scraps.  I selected the Tybee Tank and Dress pattern by Lily Giggle. I used all the prints included in the package and ended up with this dress.  I love how it turned out and I know my daughter likes it too.  Thanks Erica!

Hi! Erica again here to show you the awesome knits I got from Robin Hill! When I opened the package, Jenna saw those robots and fell in love! She HAD to have something with the Little Robots by Poppy Europe. I’ve never used any of this knit before, and I must say that I love it! I was very lucky to test the new Little Lizard King knit twirler dress that’s coming soon. We love the pattern. With a knit bodice and fixed straps, it’s super easy for little ones to put on themselves! That’s important for girls starting Kindergarten in a few weeks and feeling by independent. So make sure you grab this dress pattern when it comes out!

Hope you enjoyed today's fun scrap inspiration, and mark your claendar for August 3rd for the kick off of our amazing Back to School in Style Month.
