Sweet Summer Set

Summer is coming!!!

And that means I need a whole wardrobe for Mack STAT!  You see my feisty brown eyed muchkin likes to grow, continuously.  So that means she is constantly and currently in need of new clothes - good thing I can sew, right!

We spend our summers playing, and that means I need clothes that can go where my girl goes and wont get destroyed the first time she takes a tumble racing her brothers or jumping off at the bottom of the slide.  I love clothes that are mix and match-able as opposed to sets that can only be worn with the perfectly matching shorts, leggings or skirt.  So separates rule our summer wardrobes.

For this Mix and Match set, I went with Jocole's Basic Brief, Lily Giggle's Tybee Tank Top, and Jalie's Pull on Shorts.  Each of these is a quick sew with great instructions and finishing.  They are patterns that can easily be made over and over again becasue they aren't going out of style any time soon.  LiyGiggle is closing their doors for good, so grab all of their patterns for 60% off before the end of the month.

For the shorts I went with a great light denim I picked up at Joann's.  The dark color will withstand the dirt and grime of play ground play, sweet!  I really love the clean lines and structure of these shorts.  They take almost no fabric and no time to whip up.  The pocket detail is fun and functional, and with sizes from 12m-13 girls and 4-22 womens all in one pattern - there is no reason you will ever make just one pair of these.  I'm thinking mama needs a pair too.

The top and briefs are Riley Blake Just Dreamy, mmmmmmm I'm a big fan of RB knits!  You can find the polka dots still in stock at Whimsical Fabric.

As I was taking pictures it hit me.... this tank and brief combo would make the cutest swimsuit!  Just make sure that you use swim elastic in the briefs and to stabilize the tank.  Must look into my swim fabric stash now!

Now I have made Mack quite a few briefs, some with like these from Jailie with Elastic and some with knit bands from other designers... and I have to say I love them all.  The coverage on this pair is great front and back and these have a nice high rise which is why I think they could make great swim bottoms too.

All in all, this looks like one comfy girl ready to take on a day or play!
