Wow…..let me start off by saying what a detailed pattern tutorial!!! I own several Foo Foo Thread patterns and am sad to say that I haven’t gotten around to sewing most of them. You guys know what I’m talking about right? A pattern releases and it is so adorable that you have to have it right then. You buy it with every intention of sewing it up right away but a year later it still sits in your pattern collection of patterns you can’t wait to get to. Well, I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to try a pattern from Foo Foo Threads.
The Katy pattern is totally adorable and perfect for summer. The tutorial was written as though the designer was right there with me explaining everything as I worked my way through. There was definitely no guessing whether or not I was doing the step right…..it’s such a thorough pattern. I don’t know why but when I saw this pattern all I could envision was Strawberry Shortcake which is very odd because I’m typically not a character person, but it seemed like such a sweet combo with those unique bow pockets. The strawberry shortcake and green gingham materials I used were from my local Hobby Lobby and the red and white polka dot materials were scraps from my stash.
The Katy pattern itself has the option of a top or a dress and dress details include the option of bow or band accents, pockets or no pockets or a simple and sweet version. They all give the pattern such different looks. For my dress I embellished the bodice on my own and then added the bow accent pockets. There is something extra special about the Katy pattern... I love the criss cross of the back straps and the unique way of tying them to their own individual loop. Plus the back has an elastic casing so combined with the adjustable straps there is lots of room for growth! If you haven’t tried a Foo Foo Threads pattern I highly recommend you do. And if it happens to be Katy…..well you won’t be disappointed!
