Kimono Jacket by My Childhood Treasures
/Hey y’all, Jackie here. Today I’m sharing a FREE pattern with y’all - the Kimono Jacket by My Childhood Treasures. Kimono jackets have been a huge trend in women’s and girl’s clothing for the last couple years. What better way to try out a style as well as a designer than with a free pattern?! The Kimono Jacket was ridiculously easy to construct! It only has three pieces and 4 seams. The seam allowance is generous at ½”. I used the generosity to do French seams since my fabric wanted to fray and I wanted it to stay pretty. The fabric I chose came with a cute pom pom trim on the selvages. I removed the pom poms, set them aside, and reattached them once the jacket was hemmed. From the first stitch to the last, this pattern took me less than an hour. That’s a lot of bang for a little buck.
Miss 9 fell in love with the pom poms and the print. She likes the way the kimono drapes over her, giving her freedom of movement but still keeping her covered. She especially loves the way the kimono jacket felt in the breeze. Considering she already owns an array of brightly colored tank tops, I think this particular top will become a wardrobe staple as soon as Mother Nature lets spring truly begin.
