Make it Mine: Horsing around with the Coquette by Winter Wear Designs

If you haven't seen yet, Whimsical Fabric is having an awesome sew along called Make It Mine.   The idea is simple, you use specific lines of fabric and show off what YOU can do with them.  This time the fabrics are all from Art Gallery, and include Anna Elise, Curiosities, and Happy Home.   Each of these fabrics lines have fun designs, great colors, and a  bit of whimsy.

As the designer of Winter Wear Designs, I am one of the the sponsors of this sew along, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on some of the fabrics to play with my own patterns.

The first thing I went to work on was a Free Motion Applique design.  As soon as I saw the Anna Elise fabrics, I knew I wanted to do a horse.  From there, it was all about letting the fabric inspire my aesthetic.  I came up with Horse Face, and LOVE it!!!!  Seriously, this is one your kids will beg for, and for the duration of the MIM challenge, you can grab it free in the Whimsical Fabric Face book Group.

Now on to the Outfit - as soon as I released the Coquette, I realized I wished I had added sleeves.  It is just one of those things where you kick yourself.  Well, time to remedy that.  As I looked at the Anna Elise line, I knew that this was the perfect time to make the addition.  Art Gallery has done a great job of starting to include knit coordinates with their lines - I just hope they keep expanding the knit options, hint hint ;o)  Perfect - I needed knit for the bodice and sleeves, and then I knew I could use the killer wovens for the skirt.

Can we say SQUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Yeah, this is one happy girl, and one happy mama ;o)

Guess what, the pattern is updated in my Etsy Shop and you can use the code: WFsave20 to save 20% off your order!!!!!
