The Tulip Dress and Tunic by Ellie and Mac

Hey friends!!! Cassie here to share with you my latest self-care sew, the Tulip Dress by Ellie and Mac patterns! If you have an Instagram or Facebook account, you for sure would have seen this super duper popular style while scrolling your feed. The tulip hem is allllll over fashion blogs this fall and so when Ellie and Mac released this pattern, I just had to jump on it!

The Tulip Dress is written for sizes XXS-5XL. The pattern includes layer printing option, lots of helpful tips and tricks for sewing with knit and great instructions on how to measure and choose the correct size. I sewed up an XS front and S back (I fondly think of this as a full butt adjustment) with added length at both lengthening lines (at the bust and thigh) as I’m a bit taller than the 5’ 5” drafted height.

The dress sewed up in a matter of an hour and half, with ease thanks to my handy serger and coverstitch machine. I used a gorgeous knit from Sly Fox Fabrics that had the perfect stretch, weight and body for this style. If you go with a thicker knit, just be mindful that there are two front dress pieces so things can bulk up there!

I love how figure flattering the ruched sides and petal hem are on all body shapes! Since my bottom half is my larger half, it really helped taper my waist and give a good balance to my body. The dress was a perfect choice for my 10th wedding anniversary date but I love how it can be casual enough for a trip to the mall too!

I hope you enjoyed my Tulip Dress!!! I’ll be sewing many more!
