Lumberjack Shirt by Patterns for Pirates

So far we have shown you some cool wide leg pants, some nifty cargo pants, and an awesome pajama set.... today it is time to look at some tops!  We are sharing two great patterns from the Boy's BundleUP today.  Go HERE to see the Zee's Tee, and keep reading to find out all about the Lumberjack Shirt from Patterns for Pirates....

--------------------

I am so excited for all these boy patterns coming out! It seems like there's not that many patterns out there for boys, so all these are so fun to see. The Lumberjack Shirt from Patterns for Pirates is a great pattern for your little guy!

  Some of the options are:
  • Lined or unlined
  • Collar or hood
  • One, two or no pockets
  • Buttons or snaps

I made the unlined, hooded option with snaps instead of buttons and one pocket.  My son refused to take it off after we took pictures, even though it was 80 degrees outside, so I call that a win!

Here's some of the details about the pattern and directions:
  • Detailed step-by-step instructions and pictures
  • No trim pages so you can easily put them together
  • Nested, color pattern pieces
  • Size 3 months- 14

I'll admit, I was pretty scared to do the cuffs and the sleeve plackets.  I've only done something like that one other time.  I just made sure to take it one step at a time and it turned out great.  I'd say it's an advanced beginner to intermediate pattern, simply because of the sleeve plackets and the collar.

My son was between sizes, and while there is a link to instructions on how to mix sizes, I choose to size up so it would still fit him this winter when it's cool.  If you make the lined version, it's a bit more snug than if you do the unlined version like I did.

Overall, I was quite happy with this pattern.  I've never made a Pattern for Pirates pattern before, so it was fun to try something new.  I love that it's made from flannel, as I never know what to make with flannel besides blankets or pajamas.  I do have tons of flannel from those Joanns Black Friday deals that I couldn't pass up.  Now I have something I can make from it, haha!
