I Heart You Dress by Rose and Lee Designs

One of the fun things we get to do here at Pattern Revolution is to introduce you to brand, spankin' new designers. It's a great way for us to show you a designer you might not normally see and designs you might not know existed! Today we're bringing you a review of the I Heart You Dress by Rose and Lee Designs. We have a review and pics from Rebecca and pics from Erica!

Shall we begin?

I love when I have the opportunity to sew something up that is different and unique and the I Heart You Dress from Rose & Lee designs is definitely different and unique.  When I first saw this dress pop up in my news feed I thought that this was a pattern that I was going to have to own! Not only is it perfect for Valentines Day, which yes has already passed, but it is also perfect for your little one to wear anytime of the year. When she wears this she will definitely carry your heart on her chest!

This is my first sew from Rose & Lee Designs and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the instructions were written. Even though this dress looks like it could very well be a complicated sew, and there are a few techniques that may be a little more advanced than a beginner level sewist, the instructions are so well written that I would urge sewers of the beginner level to try it out!

In addition to the well written, step by step instructions, this pattern has a size chart table to make sure you get the perfect fit, a yardage table for directional prints to make sure you have enough fabric, a glossary of sewing terms in case you might be unfamiliar with some of the wordage used throughout the pattern, printing instructions so that you can print only what you need (perfect for saving ink and paper!) and a list of supplies you will need. There is also a quick sewing guide for those of you that have more experience and do not need the step by step detailed instructions.

You also have different options for this dress. I have to add that I absolutely love the criss cross back. It is a style that I have always admired but this is the first pattern I have personally seen in a PDF format. I thought at first the criss cross back might be a little confusing but it was a breeze! So, you have this amazing back and then you get to choose if you want to do an applique heart with ruffles on the front of the bodice or if you prefer to do the inset style heart bodice. My little really wanted the ruffle heart which was a little out of the blue because she swore off ruffles a few years back. You also can choose from two different hem finishes, a bias hem which is the one we did, or you can do a ruffle hem. Are you starting to see the amazing possibilities with this dress?

Other things that I loved about this pattern, the pages are numbered….woo hoo!!!! The pattern pieces fit together like a dream. They were labeled clearly so that there is no confusion as to what goes where and how many you need to cut. The skirt pieces also have different cutting lines for if you are doing a bias hem finish or the ruffle finish, no guessing!!! Guess what else???? This dress goes from a size 2 to a size 16!!! Can you say matching sister dresses…..OR…just a pattern that you can sew time and time again over the years!

My little loved this dress and even though it is THE PERFECT dress for Valentines Day, it is also just a perfect dress in general for anytime of the year! Just switch up your fabrics according to the season and sew up a dress that really shows just how much you love your little!!!

XOXOXOXO
