Scarlett's Sun Suit by Simple Life Pattern Co.

Here on the West Coast, summer is in full swing! Ice cream, swimming, and fun in the sun (don't forget the sunblock!) all day long! I miss the days when my daughter was little enough for ruffled butt rompers! I do enjoy seeing little ones in these adorable and timeless pieces though! Today, we have Rebekah's review of Scarlett's Sun Suit by Simple Life Pattern Company.

Hey everyone! I’m back with another super cute pattern today.  First let’s get the introduction out of the way.  For those that know me; Hey!  How you doing?  For those that don’t, I’m Rebekah and I blog over at Rebekah Sews although my Facebook page gets more of the action.  Thanks for reading my review here on Pattern Revolution!

Today we are looking at the first baby pattern to be released by the Simple Life Pattern Company.  Since Katie started her own pattern company I have been anxiously awaiting for patterns in my girls size.  She is a small thing so even though she is almost 2 she still wears a 12-18mo!  Well this pattern is just perfect for the first baby pattern.

This sun suit gives you cuteness galore with plenty of options.  Who doesn’t love a cute ruffle butt?  I know I do!  You have the option to make a ruffle butt or keep it plain.  Add some flutters to your straps, or how about the option of a snap crotch?  Dress it up or dress it down.  The choices are yours!  In total, this sun suit took about 3hrs to complete as I made it fancier and I had to find my perfect shirring settings.  Since the top and leg openings are elasticized with shirring I would rate this pattern an intermediate pattern.  There is an included section on how to shirr though, so with a little practice the advanced beginner could do it too!

For my girl I made the size 12-18mo and the fit was good. A little baggy in the bottom area but my girl has no junk in the trunk to begin with but that also means there is plenty of room for cloth diapered bums as well.  I love that the pattern includes the bows.  This is a feature part of the pattern as you can attach a bow to the front of the straps.  I however used my bows in baby girl’s hair instead!  Perfect way to give a complete look and accent those pig tails.  I think one of my favorite things about this pattern is right on the pattern piece.  I just hate having to go back to my computer to get the cutting chart for those square or rectangle pieces.  I usually just write them down on one of the pattern pieces that need to be cut.  This pattern comes with the chart not only in the tutorial but also on the pattern piece!  No need for writing or running back to the computer for this one!

This is definitely a fun pattern that can give you many different looks each time.  Perfect for the hot weather so I will definitely be sewing up a couple more.  After all, you can’t just stop at one!  If you like this pattern head on over to the Simple Life Pattern Co. website to pick up your copy and check out all the amazing patterns available.  I know I am anxiously awaiting more baby patterns as I just love the look of all the girl patterns.  Ok, I will admit I have bugged Katie on more than one occasion asking about the baby patterns!  But really, who could blame me?
