Emma's Herringbone Top, Dress, and Maxi by Simple Life Pattern Company

Hello there fellow Sewists. Nacole here with a review of Simple Life Pattern Company’s new Emma’s Herringbone Dress.

This dress has so many options I'm sure you will find exactly what you're looking for with this pattern. The pattern includes a Top, Dress and maxi length option and the sleeve options are tank, flutter short and long sleeves.  The bodice options are full bodice, strapped bodice and curved bodice, with instructions for a herringbone bodice or a plain bodice.  The pattern also includes instructions for a skirt simple or a herringbone skirt.  The pattern has step by step color photos as well as a video link for placket help.

For my version I decided to mix it up a bit as I wanted to show something a little different that you can do with the Herringbone pattern and the straight bodice. I followed the instructions for the entire pattern including the herringbone design. The only thing I changed is where I placed the herringbone design. I decided to use this beautiful design as the main focal point of the bodice.

If you have never done any kind of quilting have no fear, the instruction in the pattern were straightforward and easy to follow. I've never done any type of quilting and it turned out perfect! Just look at the lines :)

The fit for this dress was spot on. I loved the length it finished at and the bodice was a great size. The strappy back was just the perfect amount of wow for a plain bodice. The pattern also includes a closed back for a more modest backing.  I was quite surprised at how quick this pattern went from print to photos! It took about two hours start to finish. This included the herringbone detail.

If you're looking for a fun way to combine two arts of sewing this is your project!  I can’t wait to see what you create! I hope you share in the Pattern Revolution group!
