Hi, I am Kim from Kimmie Sew Crazy.  I am not sure if it is possible for me to be more excited to participate in See it Sew it Share it!

I have been dieing to create a few fun swimsuits for Mila and the Cosi was one of the top patterns on my list.  Here in Minnesota we get about 3 months of good swim weather and my family takes full advantage of our short swim season.  We head to the pool or one of our 10,000 lakes on a daily basis (for 3 months).  With all that time in the water it sure is hard to keep up with the laundry so of course my little gal needs a lot of swimsuits. The Cosi swimsuit by sewpony has already been reviewed by Pattern Revolution (see the review here ), so I thought I would mix it up a bit.

My inspiration was this suit by Anthropologie.

The Cosi swimsuit already has a vintage flare which served for the perfect base. This is my Old Hollywood Vintage flare swimsuit.  I think the gold kinda pulled off that look, or at least that is what I was hoping for.

Changes?  Well, really not that much.  On the back of the bottoms pattern piece I cut about two or three inches off (just eyed it) and created a new pattern with added seam allowances.  Now the bottoms have 4 pattern pieces. The front, the side front (already included in the pattern) the back, and the newly drafted the side back.  If you try this do not forget to add the seam allowance to  the edges of the side back and the back where the pattern piece was cut from. I then had sewn the side front and side back together, added the pleats (should have done ruffles) and sewn all pieces together.  I then had done the waist as shown in the pattern.  I do though think an added waistband would have been a better idea for the ruffles.  For the top I only added a ruffle, and criss crossed the straps.  Everything else was exactly the same.

Just in case you are not familiar with the Cosi Swimsuit, it has TONS of options.  The original pattern includes a standard bikini (like mine), The bikini with a ruched center, a one piece, a one piece with a ruched center, a one piece with a peplum.  Really it is so worth the purchase.  I am really looking forward to trying out all of the options!  Now if I could only find local adorable suit fabrics.

Thanks for reading!  I am off to making a bunch more suits.  At least I hope.  Summer baseball sure sneaks away a lot of my sewing time.
