Creating a Wardrobe: Starting with the Basics

Hola Chicas (and manly men who potentially read this blog), I'm back to share more of my process in creating Mack's Fall wardrobe, and of course some of the final results.

Today, we are going to take a look at some of the staples that are the base of letting a wardrobe take shape.  For me, those basics are Leggings and Tops.

Leggings are my 'go to' staple for my daughter.... they stretch and fit for a while, they can be layered under dresses or tunics to extend the life of some of my favorite summer pieces.  But the best thing about Leggings - you can whip them up SUPER FAST!!!!  Once you find the perfect legging pattern for your child, you can make a gazillion in ever color under the rainbow.  Leggings never go to waste in my house!

So far I have made: Black, Navy, Feather, Silver, & Pink and Yellow Polka Dot - and I'm not done!!!!  I made all Jocole Leggings as I find they have the perfect fit for my bubble booty baby.

Next up are tops.  Tops are that basic that you can just never have enough of.  They are perfect to pair with jeans, skirts, and that dresses that need something layered underneath.

Mack has a VERY long torso, pair that with a barrel chest and toddler tummy, and buying shirts can be so difficult.  I want shirts on my daughter to come past the waist band on her pants, I want her to be able to play and raise her arms without her belly showing.

For this year's wardrobe, I went with Zee's Tee by Tie Dye Diva and the Rose Ruffle Shirt by Made for Mermaids.  Once again, if you find a shirt that you like the fit of, make a BUNCH!  They will all look different based on fabric, and of course you can add a variety of details to keep them fun.

Zee's Tee is my perfect T-shirt, fun and adaptable, great for play, and long enough to fit my criteria.

I really love the fit on the Rose Ruffle (you can read my full review and see more pictures HERE), it hugs Mack without being too tight - which makes it perfect to wear alone or layered under apron style dresses.  It is nice and long, and the sleeve detail keeps it girly.

My favorite outfit so far this fall are the navy leggings and navy Rose Ruffle tee with an amazing plaid skirt that was a hand-me-down from my friend Melissa. She just looks so preppy and cute ;o)  But there are plenty more outfits to come......

So lets see - so far that is 5 pairs of leggings and 4 shirts.... we're off to a good start!
