Earth Day Upcycle by Kara using Pretty Bird by Ruby Jean's Closet

Happy Earth Day!

We've got another upcycle project for you today, this time featuring the Pretty Bird pattern from Ruby Jean's Closet. So cute, guess it's time to go raid hubby's closet!

Ruby Jean's Closet Pretty Bird Upcycle

Have you ever tried an upcycle?  I have been a little intimidated to try in the past but when my husband gave me some old shirts, I knew I had to give it a shot.  I made an upcycle with the Bunny Hop Dress, but I REALLY wanted to make this Pretty Bird Dress as an upcycle because I knew it would be perfect.  I just love the vintage look of RJC patterns, they just seem to fit the upcycle category for me.
I took this old PJ shirt and turned it into an amazing dress!

I didn't spend any money on the dress, just leftover fabric and the PJ top.

The Pretty Bird makes for a great upcycle because the accent pieces are so small and require so little fabric.

If you have an old shirt, that is the main fabric you will need.

I love those pockets!

I also love the simplicity of the dress.

This is a great summer dress because of the cool breezy feel and the shoulder ties.

The dress was very quick to sew and very easy!

And who can resist those sweet birdies?

Do you have an old shirt that is ready to be turned into the Pretty Bird?  I'm going to find another one ASAP.
