More Fall Layering - Summer Jumpers, Perfect for Fall

I would have to say that Fall is probably one of my favorite seasons. The cool, crisp mornings and evenings. The trees brilliantly changing from hues of green to rich reds, oranges, yellows, and purples. Sweaters and boots. Bonfires and s'mores. Picking apples and pumpkins on field trips. And let's not forget the quintessential Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Yep. I'm one of THOSE girls.

We thought we'd take some time to show you how you can get more bang for your buck with all of those Spring and Summer PDFs you've bought in the last few months.  I mean, I know you can go buy patterns that are specifically released for Autumn, but what if you could think outside the box and buy a pattern that would be useful year round?  I'm here today to show you all of the fun ways you can layer the Made for Mermaids Katelyn Jumper and Rose Ruffle Tee (check out the full review of the Rose Ruffle Tee HERE), and you can do it with ready-to-wear items that your little girl already has in her closet!

Katelyn Jumper- Pattern by Made for Mermaids. Fabrics from Robert Kaufman (butterflies), Art Gallery Fabrics (straps), Westminster/Free Spirit (pockets). Rose Ruffle Tee- Purple Seamstress Fabrics (knits)

I thought I'd start with the bare minimum of this outfit.  The jumper and tee are both from Made for Mermaids.  These are my first two patterns EVER from Megan, and I'm seriously smitten with them both!  I love the quirky straps of the jumper and the unique shape of the bodice.  And who doesn't love the extra places to put more fun buttons? OK, maybe people that don't like buttons. But I'm not talking about THOSE people. Obviously.

Boots- The Children's Place, Boot cuffs- my sock drawer

This jumper has super sweet and simple pockets that you can really embellish. If you like trims and buttons, this dress really gives you an opportunity to add them.

Cowl- my fabric stash. Jeggings- The Children's Place. Shoes- second hand purchase

Above is an example of layering the jumper with some jeggings that my daughter got for her birthday last year. They still fit! Bonus! Paired with fun flats and a cowl that I seriously sewed ONE seam to make, she's ready for a day out shopping with mommy in her little fashionista ensemble. She sets the bar high, though, so no yoga pants and flip flops for me!

Jean Jacket- The Children's Place

Where we live in the Midwest, it can get a little chilly on those early, Fall mornings, so the Katelyn jumper still looks cute with a jean jacket for another layer of style. This was also from last year's birthday, so we're happy that we'll get another year or so out of this wardrobe staple. I still remember my very first jean jacket. It was a purchased at The Gap when they still had that orange logo...and sold Levi's! OK, I seriously just dated myself there. Sheesh.

I think the Katelyn Jumper and Rose Ruffle Tee are definitely going to make great pairings with more items in my daughter's closet and I'm looking forward to seeing what creativity she brings to her outfits! Thanks to Megan from Made for Mermaids for the great patterns!
