One of the best things about Pattern Revolution is learning about designers who we may not have been familiar with before.  I recently learned about Australian designer, Ainslee Fox.  This is the Disco Party Dress.  Don't you just love the scallop on the bodice?


I can picture this with so many different fabric combinations.  You can check out more examples for inspiration here. 



With this intermediate level pattern, you get a combination of pattern pieces and measurements.  You can make this dress with 2 or 3 fabrics and you have an option for a zipper back or one with buttons.  I have to tell you, I was so excited about the zip back......so few girl pdf patterns offer this option.  The designer does a nice job of explaining how to easily install it too. 



  
The instructions are clearly written and accompanied by color photos which guide you through each step.  I actually think most people would be able to complete this project without difficulty.  Everything went together smoothly and the fit and length are great.  Sizing and finished measurement charts are provided to help you select size or make modifications to fit your child.  You can also add an adjustable D ring belt which my daughter loves.   


 
The designer recommends hand stitching the bodice lining to secure it in place.  For those that don't like hand sewing, an alternate machine method can be used.  I do like the finished look of the hand stitching and I'm a fan of enclosed seams. 



This pattern is for sizes 2 - 6. It would be nice if more size options were included and I know my daughter would love to have a matching doll dress too - hint hint!!!   



There is a lot to like about this pattern and you end up with an adorable party dress.
