Here is Serena to tell you all about sewing up this little number...

I was so excited to test out another knit project, I'm not a huge fan of knit but after this dress it's definitely growing on me! This is Modkid's new Melanie dress from their 'Back to School' line that was just released! My daughter is almost 22 months and wearing a small 2t at the moment. I adore Modkid patterns, they're simple but sweet and can be a classic sew that will last through the years.

This pattern, sewn with knit fabrics, has two large pockets on either side of the dress and comes with three different sleeve options, think summer, fall, winter! Since we're heading into fall I chose the elbow length sleeves and I love how they look on my little girl, wasn't sure when I was cutting them out but the 'mod' look is cute on her. This is just a simple pull over dress, so if you have a 'non-morning' gal getting ready for school would be a snap.

- This pattern is available in sizes 2t-10, there's also 'Euro Sizing' in the chart for perfect measuring.
- Modkid patterns are so easy to follow, Patty really takes the guess work out of matching pieces up and wondering if you did it right!
- Step by step instructions, including tips on how to hem with knit.
- Best yet, there is a cutting diagram, helps newbies like me!

I think the length on my little girl works great, even though she's not quite in a normal 2t there is room to grow. I'm pretty sure that even next fall she'll be able to wear this as a tunic with leggings, so I'm happy with getting two seasons out of it. I prefer wovens over knit because of the fabric being less finicky but I'm glad I got the chance to try it again, this was pretty simple. In less than 2 hours I had an adorable dress with large pockets to hide treasures in, easy comfortable fit, and no issues sewing it up!
