Spectrum Tote by Cozy Nest Designs

Spectrum Tote by Cozy Nest Designs literally screams COLOR! Such a great name for this bag. I struggled with fabric choices. Have you have the seen the tester photos? Go check out the rainbow, the ombré, and others. Gorgeous colors over there. Finally, I asked myself "what am I going to use this bag for?"  It's a fairly large tote so I decided it would be ideal for the produce market, beach, pool, or a picnic. The stripes on the bag make it a perfect scrap buster too.  Digging through my scraps, I noticed many blue hues.  Taking a leap of faith, I went for it.

I'm so pleased with my scrappy blue tote!

A little bit about the pattern.  Once all the strips are sewn together, there is a handle template that is laid at the top of the stripes and the handle portion is cut out.  There is no lining piece.  Once the exterior is complete, the exterior piece is laid on top of the lining fabric to trace and cut. Because the exterior is sewn in so many pieces, there is much room for error.  Cutting the lining based on the final exterior piece is brilliant because the lining will perfectly match the exterior!

The interior has a zippered pocket plus two slip pockets.  The slip pockets are made from the extra that is cut away when the handles are cut.  Waste not!

There is a snap closure, which I opted to not add for even easier produce drop in.
