Fiddlehead Flutter Top by LilyGiggle

As sad as it was to say goodbye to LilyGiggle during their hiatus earlier this year, it's been that much more exciting to see them produce new, fresh patterns and also see our reviewers salivate over each and every one that's released. I've personally sewn the Fiddlehead Flutter pattern twice and I'm totally in love with it...as is my in-house model. Let's catch up with Trisha and Nicole and see their versions of this fun top!

Hi guys! I'm back today to tell you about the Lily Giggle Fiddlehead Flutter Top. This is a knit top with a double row of ruffles along the shoulders.

Let me tell you a bit about this pattern and what is included:

  • Instructions for how to just print the individual size you need using layers
  • Assembly diagram and instructions
  • Size chart and finished garment measurement chart
  • Cutting diagrams
  • Tips for sewing with knits
  • Includes a "quick sew" page for experienced seamstresses who don't need pictures
  • Step by step pictures and instructions
  • Nested pattern pieces
  • Sizes 2-12
  • Can be "sleeveless" with just the flutters, 3/4 sleeves, or long sleeves
  • Instructions for how to get the best fit for your child if they don't match the standard size chart

This was a fun top to sew and was quick too.  I made it during naptime and still had a bit of time left over.  I would say it's a beginner pattern.

My youngest daughter who is 21 months old has been going through an aversion to clothing phase, but she demanded I put this on her, even though it was made for my 7 year old.  She was not happy when I had to take it off and let her sister wear it for pictures.  She even tried to pull it off my oldest because she wanted it.  Guess I better make her one now too!

Hi it's me again Nicole from K & A Couture I got the chance to review this super cute and easy top from LilyGiggle. This top is sooo quick after taping and tracing, the actual cutting and sewing only took me 45 minutes! Now that's the type of pattern I love to make, something that you can have done in an hour!

Of course, I had to use the new custom knit I got in stock! In case you're saying, "Wow, that's so cute! Where did you get it?" you can find it HERE. I seriously love this fabric it's soooo soft and yummy! But anyways back to the shirt. I'm seriously going to have to make more of these because they are so easy!

The pattern is well written and easy to follow! I love how there are quick sew steps in the front for us sewists who don't really need instructions anymore! But there are still very detailed instructions after that for beginners. It really is so user friendly. Even if you've never used knits before, you can make this top!

My daughter wore the outfit to school yesterday and she said a boy in her class broke out in song when he sat down next to her! "Do you wanna build a Snowman!!" I take that to mean he approved of her outfit! Third graders can be harsh at times, this top has passed the test with flying colors!

Now I need to sew more Fliddlehead Flutter tops! My 4 year old wants a matching shirt, of course! It's so easy, I will be making more for sure. Hope you enjoy the top as much as I do!
