Hello everyone! It's Nichole, from Full of Grace Boutique. Happy to be back again sewing up this lovely Pearl Dress from Tie Dye Diva!! I knew I wanted to sew this the second I saw all the tester photos pouring in!! So lovely, and something different!! Yay!

Pearl is a sleeved dress, with a pretty button up ruffled front bib, ruffled elbow length sleeves, big sash, and nice full skirt! Perfect for the holidays, or any special occasion dress.

I had been hoarding some Christmas fabric that I got from One Red Blossom for the perfect pattern. And after initially thinking...hmm, maybe this wasn't the right dress for it, I have grown to love it. The dress showcase the pretty floral print pretty well, I think.

Anyway, lets get down to business. Here's what you need to know about Pearl.

  • 6 Total pages to print....only SIX!!! I was a happy girl right from the start!! Pattern pieces included for bodice, big and sleeves. Measurements for skirt and trims.
  • Pattern includes size charts, which I found to be spot on for my girl.
  • Pattern includes two different options for the bib front closure. Hidden or visible buttons. I chose to use hidden snaps for mine. I LOVE the look of the buttoned bib, but found that my print was too busy for buttons.
  • The overall construction and flow of the pattern was good. Not overly wordy or too many instructions to sift through, but very doable for an adventurous beginner (because of the buttons). Next time I will probably sew the ruffled hem band to my sleeves flat, just being a smaller size I found it tedious to sew in the round.  Just a personal preference on that though. Bigger sizes I would certainly follow the pattern.

Overall, I'm am happy with the finished dress. It was pretty time consuming for me, but worth it. My daughter loves the front hidden snaps, such a fun surprise!!
