I love Australian pattern designers and One Thimble Magazine is right up there with best at showcasing Aussie talent. Their tutorials are easy to follow and the final product always has a professional look and finish. I always learn new sewing techniques as well. For this review I made the  Bow Trim Dress by Ainslee Fox. The perfect dress to dress up for special occasions or down for play. My daughter as worn hers now as both.

I followed the tutorial but made slight modifications by adding a small flutter sleeve and continuing the back buttons all the way down the dress. As you all might notice I didn't do the cute little bows around the neckline but the fabric was too busy on the bodice. I will do the bows on the next dress I make because they are just too cute. The tutorial made it look fairly easy to make too. You can see the listing for more dress examples.

My daughter loves this versatile dress. It's lightweight and comfortable. There is room to layer an undershirt and leggings for the colder months making this a perfect transition dress too.

Adding the flutter sleeve was an easy change to make. Just take any favorite flutter sleeve pattern and sandwich it between the bodice when the tutorial goes over that part. Leave a little room on each end because you still have to add the skirt. Only took 10 extra minutes and I loved the looked.

I own a crazy amount of buttons and thought doing them all the way down the dress would be fun. Well really it was just time consuming! I suggest just sticking to the tutorial with two buttons and closed back. But if you are feeling motivated, this added a great detail to the dress.

Fabric:
Bodice and border: Art Gallery Lady Like
Dress skirt: Chambray

Overall a great pattern! Classic look and fairly quick sew. I will be making more of this dress.
