Luna Dress by Browniegoose
/Hi! It's Katy from My China Doll. I was so excited to review the Luna dress by Brownie Goose Patterns. Brownie Goose patterns were one of the first pdf patterns that I bought and loved, and have continued to enjoy. I love the way the designer, Amy, makes you feel like she is having a chat to you whilst you sew and follow the instructions. The Luna dress has a great size range from 6-12 months to 12 years and it is most suited towards woven fabrics. I based my size selection on my daughter's chest measurement and the finished dress length measurement and made a 6-12 month width with an 18 month length and the fit was perfect.
There are two options available for the sleeves. As we are heading into summer here in Australia, I chose to make the angel flutter sleeves that are built into the princess seamed side panel. The other included option is a separate elbow length sleeve.
The construction method is great, explained well and I just love how pretty the finish is on the inside of the dress. Great for my perfectionist ways.
It features an angled square yoke that is perfect for showcasing gorgeous trim or a gorgeous piece of fabric too. I used a soft pink lace as it paired beautifully with the Lecien rococo and sweet fabric. The lace I chose was wider than the recommended size so I had to modify the attachment method.
The back bodice can be fastened with a button, however I chose to use resin snaps for mine. It has a bound placket that is cut into the back skirt piece and helps make dressing easier.
By changing the fabric type used, you can wear this dress year round. The dress is very feminine and perfect for everyday or special occasion wear. I can highly recommend this pattern and will be sewing many more of them, especially because my big girl has requested one too.
