When the new Eleanor pattern from Honeydew Kisses released I was in awe of the sweetness of its curved bodice and overlapped rounded back. I absolutely could not wait to sew one up for this Pattern Revolution review.

Let me start by saying that this pattern is loaded with options: flutters, sleeveless, short sleeve, long sleeve, dress, tunic, short romper, long romper, optional ruffle, double ruffle, placket (only required for the romper) and pockets. I think it is absolutely wonderful when a pattern offers so many options and sizes (more bang for your buck). However, with every additional option and size the length of the pdf pattern increases. I only mention this because a lengthy pattern can sometimes be intimidating to new sewers. Do not let the length of this pattern hold you back. The outcome is absolutely stunning and the pattern is very well organized. You choose the options you would like to include, follow the steps in order and skip over the directions for the options you did not choose. The pattern includes many helpful charts and provides measurements for cutting when possible. If in between sizes I recommend sizing up.

I would categorize the basic dress version I sewed as a beginner pattern and the romper version with the placket as an advanced beginner/intermediate pattern. For the dress without the placket I didn’t even have to sew one buttonhole and I only had 4 small pattern pieces to assemble and cut out. Can I get a Hallelujah!? (insert happy dance here) I absolutely LOVE patterns with minimal assembly and cutting. The Eleanor only requires additional printing for the romper version (as does any romper pattern). For my Eleanor I finally cut into this sweet giraffe fabric I bought from the nursery section a few years back at Joanns. I have been hoarding this fabric for the perfect dress and only felt a little bit of anxiety when I cut into it...lol!!! Do you know that feeling I’m talking about? Well, I’m happy to announce that I survived and I’m so thankful I used this fabric for an Eleanor. I paired the giraffe fabric with a green polka dot from joanns and the turquoise fabric is from the Joel Dewberry Birch Farms fabric line for a pop of color. The end result is absolute sweetness. And those pockets…..um gee...I think they are my most favorite pocket ever! I can envision little girls everywhere storing treasures in these adorable pockets. I am in love with sweet Eleanor and see many more in my future. I can’t wait to see what you create with this pattern!
