Fast & Fabulous Blouse-Back T by Hot Patterns

I love sewing for myself and I definitely don’t do it enough.  So, I jumped at the opportunity to review the Fast & Fabulous Blouse Back T pattern (#1170) by Hot Patterns.  I love this style shirt and have had a hard time finding it in stores at a reasonable price and in fabrics I like.  My local stores have a big selection of gorgeous sheer fabrics so I was excited to have a chance to use some.

The pattern includes a very detailed measurement chart, to assist with choosing which size to make, which we found very helpful.  The reviewers did find the pattern to run a little wide as well as long, so we advise sizing down a size from your chart measurements and also to check the total length before hemming.  It's a good idea to sew a muslin and customize your fit any time you attempt a new women's pattern. This was very simple to do and I love the custom fit of my top.  The pattern is printed on non trim pages, so there is no cutting involved...yay!!!!!  Just piece it together and you’re already up and running.  The pattern pieces didn’t match up perfectly, but it was pretty easy to fill in the lines, and the designer has created a lovely video to assist with printing, assembling, and taping.  The top is an easy sew which is always nice to be able to sew something up for yourself rather quickly.  However, the pattern directions are succinct and geared more towards intermediate sewers who are familiar with working with knits.  The fabrics I used for my top were both from my local Hobby Lobby.  I decreased the width of the neck and arm binding to my preferences and also added a pocket to the front.  I love my finished top and can’t wait to make a few more with a more custom fit.
