Hi again! It’s Denita from HattieLu Handmade. We’re getting geared up for back to school with Pattern Revolution. Today’s post is all about styling for school.

I will admit that I thought Lily Bird Studio was mostly geared towards girls. However, they have two great options for boys to use in the back to school wardrobe.

First up are the Adjustable Waist Pants! There are great for the sprouting toddler. The finished measurements are listed in the pattern. This makes it easy to combine sizes ahead of time. As parents, we’ve all struggled with getting pants to fit in the waist and in length. The fabric is green corduroy that was left over from the ‘S’ is for Sewing Blog Tour. I changed the bottom hem of the pants to leave them longer. This kid grows like a weed!

So what makes the Adjustable Waist Pants so cool? Hidden waistband is elastic! Yes! Score! The Adjustable Waist Pants gives you the option to make a pair of pants that are slightly larger now, but can be “adjusted” to fit. This is a great feature! The pants are available in sizes 12 months to 5T.

Now about that Summer Shirt! The shirt is an easy, cute button up. I know you’re saying summer is almost over and the kids are headed back to school. This shirt is great for the first few months of school when the temperature is still warm, but transitions well into the perfect layering piece on a cold morning. The Summer Shirt is available in sizes 12 months to 6 years.

For my son’s first day, we chose construction equipment. He calls them “builders.” I wanted him to feel comfortable on his first day. The builder theme is something he can wear proudly (since he loves them) and a great conversation piece for meeting new friends.

Pattern Revolution has reviewed and shared Lily Bird Studio before today. Check out more about them here.

I made it! This year marks the first year my kid is going to school. I was wondering if I’d make it through this post without crying! Good luck on a new school year! Now it’s your turn to sew for your kids! Get creative, think outside the box! Challenge yourself! Make your kid’s first day mama made!

Thanks for reading! Until next time...remember it’s all about the sewing!
