Wendybird Dress Blog Tour by Stitch Upon a Time

Wow it’s been awhile since I’ve been on a blog tour!  You can imagine how excited I am to be a part of the Stitch Upon a Time Wendybird dress blog tour representing Pattern Revolution.  If you can’t imagine though, well let me just tell you, I eam most certainly  excited.  This is a fun new pattern that you are sure to love as much as I do!

The Wendybird dress is a cute and comfy dress with soooo many options.  It features a boat or regular neck, many sleeve lengths and styles, optional cuffs, and different skirt options.  The skirt options are what make this pattern stand out.  It isn’t your traditional skirt option for this dress.  No, this dress features a contrasting panel to add extra fun, and even the panel has a couple different options!  The size range is huge on this dress too, coming in sizes from NB- 12y.  Best yet, it is a quick sew.  Yup, took me about 1-1.5hrs to sew one up.  Don’t you just love quick sews?

Now comes my favorite part.  Time to tell you about the ones I sewed up!  For my big girl I sewed up the simple version with the boat neck and ¾ hemmed sleeves.  So simple and so timeless.  Originally I was going to sew the pleated panel for her, but little miss didn’t like any of the coordinating fabrics I had and only wanted the floral.  Yes, she is quite opinionated for a 4yr old!   I am so glad she chose this as it is soooo flattering on her.  She fit into a size 2y for width and size 4y for height.  It’s perfect and she loved it.  She was even doing cartwheels in it with ease!!

For littlest miss I sewed up a straight 9mo.  This one has the regular neckline, ¾ sleeves with cuff, and a gathered panel.  Again the fit was perfect.  Now for her I wanted to sew a tunic as she isn’t walking yet and crawling in a dress can be a bit hard.  So I measured where I wanted the tunic to fall and then subtracted that from the finished length in order to find out how much to cut off the bottom of the skirt pattern pieces.  For me that turned out to be 4” to cut off.  I paired this tunic with the Ariel leggings with the legwarmer bottom.  The gather on the panel and the gathers on the legwarmer matched perfectly to make this set super cute!!!  I adore it, but I may be a little bias.

Overall I have to say this pattern is a winner.  So easy to follow and so easy to sew.  I will definitely be making more especially the simple version as I just love the silhouette.  With two active girls this also checks off my list of looking cute and ladylike while still being functional for all the fun playing and dancing that is to be had!

Happy sewing!
