Bunny Hop Dress by Ruby Jean's Closet

By Kara Orr

Do you have plans for Easter?  I have about 3 different dresses planned (and a couple that are already made) because I love Easter egg hunting.  Of course the best part of Easter for me is the Sunday morning church service, but egg hunting is just for fun!
I could not resist making the Bunny Hop Dress by Ruby Jean's Closet.  I mean seriously, could it get more perfect than this?

The Bunny Hop comes in sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  There is a printing guide, finished measurement chart, fabric requirements and fabric layout suggestions.

One of the nice features of the Bunny Hop is that the bunny is stitched on with the sewing machine, no embroidery machine required.  I hand stitched the face and sewed the bunny onto the bodice with a zig zag stitch on my regular machine.

The back closure uses a button loop.  The cool thing is that I used some ribbon that matched the outfit, so I didn't even have to sew the loops.  These buttons are a very thick felt that holds their shape and stand up to buttoning and unbuttoning.

My VERY favorite thing about this dress is that I used an old dress shirt from my husband to make the skirt panel.  That's right, I didn't have to sew on all of those buttons!  I get the added detail without the added work!  Awesome!

The instructions are very easy to follow and understand.  I was worried that my bunny would be lopsided and ugly since I had to make the ears and bow, they turned out perfect though!

There are plenty of step by step pictures along the way to help you follow along.

It is easy for me to see this as a Sunday church dress or a play dress that is ever so cute!

The Bunny Hop is actually pretty quick to sew as well.  The hand embroidery took the most time but I think it is well worth the trouble.  There is even a little tutorial on tying the perfect bow!  I'll use that again for sure!
