Addie Shorts by My Little Plumcake

It's getting warm here in NC and my daughter grew like crazy this winter, so that means she gets an entirely new wardrobe for spring. I've been picking patterns left and right, but I was looking for a cute basic shorts pattern. I saw some tester photos of the My Little Plumcake Addie Spring Shorts and knew I had to give them a try.  Now, I'm a girl that loves choices, so I was happy to see that the Addie pattern had both a simple short and a banded bubble short option. I decided to do the banded bubbles for my review, and I'm so glad I did.

Seriously cute, right? And my daughter LOVES pockets, so that was a huge bonus for her.

The bottom band features a button hole side closure, but I decided to go with Kam snaps. If I were going for a fancier look, I'd definitely put the time in and and do the button holes, but I think the snaps look cute too and are a little more casual.

The ruffled waistband is just adorable and so girly. The pattern has directions for a neat bias binding finish on the interior of the waistband to cover the seam, but I chose to trim the seam allowance and serge mine (always in a hurry!).

The pattern contains a size/measurements chart which I used to determine the size I made. These are 3T and that is also my daughter's RTW size. My daughter is still in diapers (gahhh! When will it end!?!) and she has quite the bodacious little booty anyways, so I felt like I could have used maybe another 1/2 in the back rise, but I think for kids with average backsides the fit would be perfect.

Do these shorts make my butt look big?

The trickiest part about this pattern is making and installing the bottom band if you choose that option, but the pattern includes markings and clear instructions to do it.  It also calls for whipstitching of the bands on the inside for a professional, clean finish, but I opted to topstitch mine instead (See, still in a hurry!)

Here are the pattern details:

  • The complete pattern is 47 pages long.
  • There are 12 pages to print and pattern pieces for everything
  • Assembly is a BREEZE
  • Time investment for me was 45 min print to completion

I'm definitely loving these shorts and putting more pairs on my spring to do list!
