SWIMMMMMMMM WEEEEEEEEEEK - and today we have an adorable unisex suit for you!!!  The Aloha Burn Blocker from our affiliate Peek a Boo Patterns is great for boys and girls, it is great for surfing, puddle jumping, or swimming at the pool.

It’s Carrie again from Beri Bee Designs and i’m back to share with you the 2nd swim suit I finished for this week.  After putting swimsuit sewing off for a few years for my daughter, I now had TWO suits to make so I could include my little guy too.  I fell in love with a suit at a popular catalog store that was this one piece zip style and it seemed so practical for little ones that I just knew that was what I wanted to replicate.

The Aloha Burn Blocker from Peek-A-Boo Patterns was exactly what I was looking for!  A few highlights- The size ranges from 3 months to 12 years making it suitable for most of the kids in your sewing life. You can also do short or long sleeves, so if you have that kiddo with super fair skin, it's easy to help keep them covered up.  I also love the interior zipper guard and the outer flap to cover up that zipper from your little ones sensitive skin.

I would say as far as swim suits go this is definitely a great pattern for a beginner with swimwear but it would help to have some knowledge of sewing with stretch fabrics first.  The directions were clearly written with good pictures to follow.

I did modify this slightly to make it more like the store bought one i’d had my eye on.  I cut out a dinosaur to applique to the front.  I did this before I had started sewing any of the pieces.  Mostly because it was easiest to maneuver with less fabric.

As you can see he was not shy about getting right in and dirty while we were taking our pictures.  Seeing that and then having to clean him up leads me to one of my favorite things about this style… little to no sand in those out of sight places ;)
