The Anke Dress by My Childhood Treasures

The Anke from My Childhood Treasures can be a top or a dress.  I chose to make the dress version for my 2 year old.  There are no set in sleeves, as the sleeves and bodice are connected, making it a super quick sew.  Yet the sleeve ruffle adds a fun little detail.  There is also an option of adding a bow, or decorating the bodice as I did.  The back closes by snaps, and I chose to use KAM snaps, but you could use press studs instead.

I tried the top on my two year old to check the fit before I added the skirt and all she could say was “Ooh, petty!  Petty!”  Which is her way of saying she thinks it’s pretty.  When she wore it for pictures she wouldn’t stop hopping and twirling.  I think that means she liked it.

This was definitely a fast sew, and I was able to cut it out and sew it in a naptime.  I loved this as I get annoyed  with things that take a long time, even if I know it will be worth it in the end.  There was no reason for me to be annoyed with this dress.  It is a great pattern for a beginner, as it teaches gathering, but there is not a ton of ruffles to deal with.  The bodice uses facings, but the instructions show how to do this very well.  Overall, I was very pleased with this pattern.
