The Going Home Sweater by Ellie and Mac:

Hey y’all - it’s Kari from That's-Sew-Kari and today, I am sharing something I made for ME!!  I honestly cannot remember the last time I sewed for myself… maybe 1 item last year?   I sew almost exclusively for my girls, but the Going Home Sweater by Ellie and Mac caught my eye.  This pattern is a raglan-style knit shirt, tunic and dress pattern all combined into one.  There are included instructions for lengthening or shortening it based on your height as well as FBA (full bust adjustment) instructions.

First, I am SO glad I forced myself to sew this.  I usually hesitate to sew for myself because a) I am short so I always need to adjust for my height  b) measuring myself always makes me look bigger than I feel and c) the dreaded pics …. LOL  Seriously though, my girls make this modeling thing look easy… and I just look awkward in most pics.  I did manage to get a few pictures though that I was happy with (just don’t ask about the other 90 that didn’t make the cut!)

I measured into size Medium, but it is looser that I thought.  Looking at the tester photos, I think it is roomier than the intended fit.  It is very comfortable to teach my Pre-K kiddos in though (wore it work already!) but I will likely try a Small the next time around.  It was a quick, easy sew and it seriously took me longer to decide on a cut file for my iron-on vinyl.  In the end, I chose a coffee/preschool theme because that’s where I spend a good chunk of my time.  So it’s kind of a “Going To Work” Sweater for me. HA!
